Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and his Chinese counterpart Ma Zhaoxu held a telephone conversation, during which they agreed to jointly promote the settlement of the Iranian nuclear problem, the PRC Foreign Ministry reported.
In addition, the diplomats agreed to strengthen strategic cooperation between the two countries, and also reached a consensus on a wide range of other issues.
The Chinese foreign ministry stressed that Beijing, with the help of joint efforts with Moscow, intends to help advance negotiations on the restoration of the Iranian nuclear deal.
Since April, talks have been held in Vienna between Iran and the “five plus one” group (Russia, China, Britain, Germany, the United States and France) with the aim of restoring the nuclear agreement in its original form. We are talking about the return of the United States to the deal, the lifting of American sanctions on Iran and the fulfillment by the Iranian authorities of their nuclear obligations.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Abdollahian. The diplomats agreed that the restoration of the nuclear deal in its original configuration is the only correct way to ensure the interests of all parties.
