In July 2019, the Federation Council of the Russian Federation ratified an intergovernmental agreement with China on cooperation in the application of the GLONASS and Beidou global navigation satellite systems. The agreement provides for cooperation in the following areas: ensuring compatibility and complementarity of the GLONASS and Beidou systems; the placement of GLONASS measuring stations in the PRC and the Beidou measuring stations in the Russian Federation; monitoring and evaluation of the characteristics of civilian navigation signals of both systems; creation and use of advanced navigation technologies; development and production of civil navigation equipment using the GLONASS and Beidou systems; development of common Russian-Chinese standards and international standards for the application of technologies using navigation systems, etc.

The provision of civilian navigation signals of both systems to consumers around the world will be free and unlimited.

Note that only the coordination of already functioning Russian and Chinese ground stations can multiply increase the accuracy of determining the coordinates of objects (up to 1 meter).

Satellite navigation systems, allowing to determine the location of the object, have become an integral part of the modern transport industry. Mobile services, cargo delivery, navigation of water and air transport depend on them. They are also of great importance in terms of security.
