A story about how to make a device for lighting effects without the use of controllers and microprocessors. However, some radio components will be used in this product. But first things first.
The device to be made is a circle. LEDs are located around its perimeter. And igniting in turn, they form a light path, or a running fire. Everything looks stylish and beautiful, but is made from the simplest details and materials. Begin.
How to make a “running” LED flasher
To begin with, we will make a round base with a diameter of 12 cm from a piece of plastic. An 8 mm hole is drilled in the center.
The disc itself is divided into 24 parts. This is easy to do with a protractor – each segment is 15 degrees. 5 mm LEDs are installed in the marked disk. Pros on one side, cons on the other. For reliability, the LEDs are glued to the disc with droplets of glue.
All negative terminals are connected by soldering. For this, a wire ring is used.
The shaft of a small DC gear motor is inserted into a drilled hole in the center of the disk. The engine itself is fixed with glue.
On the reverse side of the disc, extend the shaft using a suitable metal pin. On this extension, several turns are made with a flexible single-core copper wire. Then the wire is laid on the other side of the disk.
How the light device will be used, where it will be located, is decided by the owner. As one of the location options – install on a horizontal surface. To do this, the legs are glued from the side of the micromotor.
A 3.7V lithium-ion battery is used as a battery.
To adjust the engine speed, a simple circuit is assembled on the popular BC 547 transistor using a potentiometer. This is necessary to change the speed of the running fire effect. All parts are soldered, power is supplied to the device. As a current-collecting rod in a homemade product, the same piece of single-core wire wound on the motor shaft is used.
Its second end is bent in a special way so that during rotation it touches the leads of the LEDs located on the side of the disk.
It’s simple – by turning the potentiometer knob, we start the rotation of the engine.
The current collector, moving in a circle, alternately supplies power to the LEDs. They light up, forming the effect of a running fire. Looks very impressive in the dark.
