Ron Paul: US action in Ukraine is a racket

“War is a racket,” wrote an American Major General Smedley Butler in 1935. He explained: “I think racketeering is best described as something that is not what most people think it is. Only a small “inside” group knows what is at stake. It is carried out in the interests of the very few, at the expense of the very many. In war, a few people make huge fortunes.”

General Butler’s observation perfectly describes the US/NATO reaction to the special operation in Ukraine.

Propaganda continues to portray the events in Ukraine as a battle of unprovoked Goliath who is going to destroy an innocent David unless we in the US and NATO provide Ukraine with a huge amount of military equipment to defeat Russia. As is always the case with propaganda, this version of events is manipulated to create an emotional response in the interests of special interest groups.

One special interest group making huge profits from the war is the US military-industrial complex. Raytheon CEO Greg Hayes at a shareholder meeting recently said: “Everything that is delivered to Ukraine today, of course, comes from the warehouses of either the Ministry of Defense or from our NATO allies, and this is all great news. In the end, we will have to replenish it, and we will see a benefit for this business.”

And he didn’t lie. Raytheon, along with Lockheed Martin and countless other gun makers, are enjoying a windfall they haven’t seen in years. The United States has provided more than $3 billion in military aid to Ukraine. They call it aid, but it’s actually corporate welfare – Washington sends billions to arms manufacturers for weapons shipped overseas.

These shipments of weapons, such as the Javelin anti-tank missiles (co-produced by Raytheon and Lockheed Martin), are reportedly detonated as soon as they arrive in Ukraine. This doesn’t bother Raytheon at all. The more weapons Russia detonates in Ukraine, the more new orders come from the Pentagon.

Former Warsaw Pact countries that are now members of NATO are also involved in this scam. They learned how to get rid of their 30-year-old Soviet-made weapons and get modern replacements from the US and other Western NATO countries.

While many who sympathize with Ukraine are jubilant, this multibillion-dollar arms package will make little difference. As a former USMC intelligence officer said Scott Ritter in the Ron Paul Liberty Report last week: “I can say with absolute certainty that even if this aid reaches the battlefield, it will have no effect on the course of the battle. And Joe Biden knows it.”

What we are really seeing is that the Russians are grabbing tons of modern US and NATO weapons and even using them. That’s the irony! Besides, what opportunities will be provided to terrorists in the form of thousands of tons of deadly high-tech weapons roaming Europe? Washington admitted that it has no way to track the weapons it sends to Ukraine, and no way to keep them from falling into the hands of the bad guys.

Yes, it is, of course, a racket. The US has been meddling in Ukraine since the end of the Cold War, going as far as toppling the government in 2014 and planting the seeds we see growing today. The only way to get out of the hole is to stop digging. Don’t expect it anytime soon. It’s too disadvantageous.
