The rocket launch of North Korea on January 14 was carried out by the railway missile regiment, Kyodo reports citing the Korean Central News Agency.
According to him, the purpose of the exercises was to confirm the combat readiness and strengthen the offensive potential of the regiment.
It is also noted that two tactical guided missiles were launched. The missiles hit their target in the Sea of Japan.
Earlier, the South Korean military said that the DPRK on January 14 launched two, presumably, ballistic missiles from the province of Pyongan Pukto towards the Sea of Japan.
Official Tokyo protested to the North Korean authorities about the launch of a ballistic missile in an easterly direction on January 14.
