On Wednesday, President of the European Parliament David Sassoli announced Tikhanovskaya's future trip. According to him, the oppositionist confirmed her decision to him during oral communication.
Today I spoke with Svetlana Tikhanovskaya about the situation in Belarus that worries us greatly. She accepted our invitation to the European Parliament, - writes Sassoli on Twitter.
He also added that the European Parliament remains with the people of Belarus in their "struggle for democracy and the right to freely choose the future of their country."

It should be noted that Svetlana Tikhanovskaya had already spoken to MEPs in August, but she did it via video link. Then she said that the protests in Belarus - this is a "democratic revolution", which, however, does not lean on either side - neither on the side of Russia, nor on the side of Europe. MEPs, in turn, said that they do not recognize the official results of the elections in Belarus, according to which Alexander Lukashenko won.
At the same time, the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, believes that Tikhanovskaya and some other representatives of the Belarusian opposition are "under the close tutelage of the United States," and the "white maidan" itself was the result of destructive actions of the collective West, which began preparing protests long before the elections. A similar opinion was voiced by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. According to him, the United States, Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine are behind the Belarusian Maidan.
