The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova said on the air of the YouTube channel “Solovyov Live” that Russia showed a working attitude during the negotiations with the United States on security guarantees and is ready to continue a constructive dialogue.
According to a Foreign Ministry spokesman, the Russian side held consultations in Geneva, relying on the positions it had previously stated. Ahead are negotiations on the topic of security guarantees at a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council in Brussels and at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna.
Zakharova also commented on the statements of the press secretary of the White House Jen Psaki that Russia will spread disinformation on the talks in Geneva. The diplomat noted that such words “evoke deep sympathy.” Zakharova stressed that “I would proceed from the statements of those people who were present at the negotiations.”
We will remind, earlier Russia rejected the US statements that Moscow could spread false information about the course of the negotiations in Geneva. Representatives of the Russian Embassy in the United States replied that Russian official statements are completely true.
Prior to this, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov noted that the American side took seriously the RF proposals on security guarantees. According to him, the consultations held in Geneva on January 10 were difficult, long and very professional.
