Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu organized the evacuation of more than 380 Russian citizens from Afghanistan on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin. This is reported by the RF Ministry of Defense.
The evacuation was organized by military transport aircraft. In total, three airliners were involved, which in the shortest possible time flew from the Chkalovsky airfield to Kabul.
At the same time, 36 tons of humanitarian cargo of the Russian Federation will be delivered by the forces of military transport aviation for the population of Afghanistan. There are doctors on board to provide the necessary medical assistance. In addition, the planes have an adequate supply of drinking water, blankets and individual rations.
Currently, three Il-76 military transport aircraft of the Russian Ministry of Defense have delivered humanitarian cargo to the Kabul airport and are landing evacuees from Afghanistan.
On August 25, during the evacuation of citizens from Afghanistan, about 400 citizens of the Russian Federation, the CSTO member states (Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan) and Uzbekistan were taken out of the country.
Earlier, Putin had a telephone conversation with Iranian leader Ebrahim Raisi. The heads discussed the situation in Afghanistan and expressed their readiness to assist the state in establishing peace and stability.
