Racist States of America. How China accused the United States of human rights abuses

An ideological war breaks out between the United States and China. In response to the State Department’s report on the human rights situation in the world, where China, among others, is harshly criticized, Beijing released its own report, which highlighted the growing problems with civil liberties in the United States.

What does the Chinese report say?

“In the United States, which always considers itself an exceptional and superior country, the epidemic situation got out of control and was accompanied by political unrest, interethnic conflicts and social divisions,” the experts of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, who prepared a report on the human rights situation in the United States, concluded. …

According to Chinese analysts, the internal political situation in the country has been rapidly degrading in recent years.

“The turmoil in the American democratic system has led to political chaos and to an even greater division of society. The “dirty money politics” distorted and suppressed public opinion, turning elections into a “one-man theater” for the wealthy class. People’s confidence in the American democratic system has fallen to the lowest level in the past 20 years, ”the Chinese experts summarize.

As a result, this led to a lot of problems. Despite the fact that in America they constantly talk about ethnic inequality, this problem is not being solved in any way, experts say. “Ethnic minorities are subject to systematic racial discrimination and a difficult situation. Two-thirds of under-18 inmates in US prisons are of the colored race, with about one-third of all minors under 18 in the country being of the colored race, ”the report said. People of African descent are three times more likely to be infected with COVID-19 than whites, and twice as likely to be fatal if infected with COVID-19. African Americans are three times more likely to be killed by police.

Shooting incidents are on the rise. This is due to the fact that the arms trade is virtually unregulated. During 2020 alone, more than 41,500 people were killed in shooting incidents in the United States. On average, more than 110 people die per day. There were 592 mass shootings nationwide in 2020, an average of more than 1.6 per day.

The Americans are massively arming themselves. In 2020, they bought 23 million weapons, 64% more than in 2019. The number of people who bought weapons for the first time exceeded 8 million.

The gap between rich and poor is growing. “The epidemic has led to massive unemployment. Tens of millions of people have lost their health insurance. One in six Americans and one in four children in the United States is at risk of hunger. Vulnerable populations have become the biggest victims of the government’s indifferent response to the epidemic, ”Chinese experts write.

The coronavirus epidemic has only complicated an already serious environment. Due to ineffective government measures, America has become the world leader in the number of cases. By the end of February 2021, the United States, home to less than 5% of the world’s population, accounted for more than a quarter of all identified confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide, as well as nearly 20% of global deaths. More than 500,000 Americans have died due to the coronavirus, Chinese analysts said.

Not ignored in the report and numerous US military operations, which led to the death of many people and a large number of human rights violations.

State Council versus State Department

The State Council report was a response to a similar report by the US State Department, which was published on March 26. The American department issues such reports annually. This time, Syria, the DPRK, Myanmar, China, Iran, Turkey, Venezuela and Russia were subjected to especially sharp criticism. The Russian Foreign Ministry, evaluating this document, said that it is replete with “politicized assessments and crude ideologized cliches.” And now a symmetrical response from the Chinese authorities has followed.

“Ideological controversy is once again coming to the fore in relations between China and the United States, although it has never completely disappeared, even during the time of the great Chinese reformer Deng Xiaoping, in which relations between the two countries have become much warmer,” says Head of the HSE School of Oriental Studies Andrey Karneev… According to him, before Biden came to the presidency, the Chinese authorities had hopes that the unfolding conflict with the United States, where China under Trump was recognized as the main strategic opponent, would be suppressed, but Biden’s first steps showed the opposite. The first meeting of high-ranking officials of the Chinese and American administrations in Anchorage ended in a major diplomatic scandal, when both sides accused each other of violating international law and human rights. “Now this discussion is reflected in two documents that appeared in Washington and Beijing with a difference of several days,” the expert says.
