Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the head of the New People faction, Alexei Nechaev, by videoconference, said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the head of state, RIA Novosti reports.
According to him, the head of state was informed about the plans of the faction for the upcoming period, and they also exchanged views on the current situation.
On October 11, the head of the New People party, Aleksey Nechaev, was elected chairman of the faction in the State Duma, head of the party executive committee Vladislav Davankov and ex-mayor of the city of Yakutsk Sardana Avksentyeva became his deputies. The party is represented in the State Duma for the first time.
Earlier, the working group of State Duma deputies on the preparation of the first plenary meeting of the lower house of the Russian parliament distributed committees on the proposals of the parties. Taking into account the wishes of the factions, 17 representatives of United Russia became the heads of the committees, five – the Communist Party, four each from the SRHP and the Liberal Democratic Party, as well as two parliamentarians from the New People.
