Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin discussed with members of the Russian Security Council the groundless detention of Russian citizens in Minsk, TASS reports.
Peskov also noted that following the meeting, its participants expressed hope for the soonest release of the Russians.
According to the Kremlin spokesman, the Security Council meeting also discussed various issues of the socio-economic domestic Russian agenda.
This week it became known about the arrest of 32 Russian citizens near Minsk, against whom a criminal case was opened in the republic for preparing a terrorist act. The investigation believes that they may be involved in organizing the riots in Belarus.
Dmitry Peskov said earlier that the Belarusian side has not yet provided information that would justify the detention of Russian citizens. According to him, the detained Russians did not commit any illegal actions.
