Putin discussed with Pashinyan the situation with unrest in Kazakhstan

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and discussed the situation in Kazakhstan. This was reported by the press service of the Armenian government.

In addition, the parties discussed the progress in implementing joint steps within the CSTO, and also wished each other a Merry Christmas.

We will remind, protests in the west of Kazakhstan began on January 2 amid a sharp rise in prices for liquefied natural gas. They subsequently spread to most of the country and escalated into riots.

The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, previously requested assistance from the heads of the CSTO countries. A peacekeeping contingent was sent to the republic.
