Putin discussed with Pashinyan the situation on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan

Russian leader Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The leaders of the two countries discussed the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. This was reported on the website of the President of the Russian Federation.

The message says that the negotiations were held on the initiative of the Armenian side. Putin and Pashinyan discussed the situation after a series of incidents on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan. It is noted that contacts in this regard will be continued.

Today, November 16, in the border areas of the Syunik region of Armenia, military clashes began between the Armenian and Azerbaijani military. The Armenian Defense Ministry said that as a result of the incident 12 servicemen were taken prisoner and two military posts were lost. At the same time, data on the dead and wounded are being specified. The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported on the attack of the Armenian military on state posts. The ministry added that two servicemen were injured due to the incident.

Earlier, Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu discussed the situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan by phone.
