The leader drew the attention of the head of the European Council to provocative actions against the population of the peninsula
Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the Donbass conflict during a telephone dialogue with the head of the European Council Charles Michel. The head of state indicated that the Ukrainian side is evading its obligations to direct dialogue with the population of the region, which is suffering from hostilities.
The colleagues drew attention to the need to resume negotiations between the parties to the conflict within the framework of the Set of Measures for the Implementation of Minsk. The Russian leader noted that Kiev is still evading the obligations that it previously assumed. In particular, we are talking about direct dialogue with the LPNR, as well as granting a special status to the region.
It is noted that the Ukrainian side has started holding the “Crimean Platform” – an event that is provocative. Putin recalled that the issue of the status of the peninsula was closed by the Russian side seven years ago. At the same time, the European Union continues to discriminate against Crimeans.
At the same time, the President of Russia exchanged views with the President of the European Council on the situation in Afghanistan, stressing the importance of maintaining peace in the country, as well as establishing a dialogue within the Islamic republic to ensure state integrity. The parties also touched upon Karabakh – at Michel’s request, the Russian leader spoke about the measures being taken to implement the agreements reached by the parties to the conflict with the assistance of Russia.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, commenting on reports on the preparation of the Ukrainian side for Zelensky’s talks with Putin, that the Russian president was not going to discuss the ownership of Crimea. At the same time, the Russian Federation does not refuse to negotiate with Kiev.
