Poland will squeeze out of the crisis with migrants everything and even more
Director of the State Border Guard Service (SOGS) of Lithuania Rustam Lyubaev every morning frightens the inhabitants with a possible breakthrough of the cordon “Crowds of illegal migrants who are used as a battering ram to destabilize the European Union”… President Gitanas Nauseda tosses logs onto the fire: “There is less of a hybrid and more of a military attack.” And he does not understand why Brussels refuses money for the construction of a fence (“construction of engineering barriers”) on the eastern borders of the European Union.
Lithuanian diplomats, members of parliament, ministers, political scientists and journalists are singing in a harmonious chorus. Conjectures in their mouths are piled up on conjectures. Conclusions are made that lead to even deeper conclusions. The choir in every possible way justifies the need for a state of emergency (PE) declared by Vilnius on November 10 along the entire border line and 10 kilometers inland from the conditional strip separating “Stable Lithuania from unpredictable Belarus”…
Meanwhile, the situation at the cordon is calm. There is no such accumulation of refugees as in the area of the international border crossing “Bruzgi – Kuznitsa” and is not expected. Only residents of the Lithuanian border area suffer from the state of emergency. Each of them is obliged to carry a special certificate issued by the SOGG. Special permission is required to visit the area. In the area, mobile communications are periodically turned off. It is believed that migrants and related residents of European countries coordinate actions, designate landmarks for movement in the dark and meeting points.
Lithuanian police detained several drivers who met small groups of illegal immigrants to transport them to the west, but to the disappointment of the officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, neither Belarusians nor Russians were among those involved in this business: more and more citizens of Germany, Georgia, Latvia, Ukraine, Lithuania.
For the sake of a meager catch, there was no need to set up such a fine mesh net as a state of emergency, but in Lithuania the state of emergency became an accessory to the crisis. “Russian spy” Algirdas Paleckis considers the introduction of the state of emergency as a propaganda gesture, demonstrating the solidarity of Lithuanians with the views of official Warsaw.
The Polish authorities have long dived into Brussels. Vilnius does not need the tension between Warsaw and the EU capital, but all of Vilnius’s European interests are tied to Poland. Accordingly, the stronger the tension in Poland, the worse Lithuania is.
Lithuanians understand that several thousand migrants wishing to get from Belarus to Germany do not pose a serious threat to Lithuania. However, psychosis needs to be fueled. Therefore, in unison with the Pole Andrzej Duda, Lithuania accuses Minsk of “state terrorism”. When the Polish Prime Minister Morawiecki threw a hysterics, assuring that the crisis was not a migration, but a political one, in Lithuania the head of the foreign government was unconditionally supported.
The President of Lithuania is in a sense an innovator. He was the first among the leaders of the EU member states to speak about the involvement of the Russian president in the migration attack on the Western community. At the moment, all Lithuanian talkers agree – Lukashenka would not have thought of blackmailing the EU countries, this plan was prompted by Putin.
The spreading delirium strengthens Vilnius’ orientation towards Poland. Recently, almost 1/3 of the deputies of the Lithuanian Sejm prepared a draft resolution “On solidarity with the Polish Republic” (on the reform of the judicial system, which caused the conflict between Warsaw and Brussels). The document calls on the EU to reverse the decisions taken on Poland. The Lithuanian Parliament notes: “Together with the Poles, Lithuania today protects the eastern borders of the European Union and NATO from attacks organized by Minsk and Moscow.”…
Recall that the main trigger of the Warsaw-Brussels conflict was the activities of the disciplinary chamber of the Supreme Court of Poland, created in 2017. The EU demanded to abolish it as threatening the independence and security of judges. Warsaw agreed to suspend the work of the chamber, but Brussels felt that the EU member did not fully fulfill its obligations. In response, the Constitutional Tribunal of Poland issued a verdict on the prevalence of national legislation over European one. For this, the European Commission obliged the Poles to pay one million euros every day until they stop the work of the disciplinary commission. Warsaw made it clear that they would ignore this decision.
Vilnius believes that the attempts of refugees to break through to Poland and further to Germany are an excellent reason to reconcile Warsaw and Brussels. Warsaw sculpts the image of the second Gaddafi from Alexander Lukashenko, simultaneously drawing Russia into the conflict. Let’s note a few important points.
First… Warsaw violates the requirements of the Geneva Convention by not letting in people who want to go there. Representatives of international organizations, journalists, human rights activists, deputies of the local Sejm and delegates from the European Commission cannot enter the Polish border area. Entry is prohibited for everyone.
Second… It is hard to deny the fact that the European Union has invited refugees. However, there are “good” refugees who enter Europe via Italy and Spain; about a thousand refugees arrive from France to the UK every day and no talk of hybrid attacks has been heard. And there are “bad” refugees going through Belarus. Duplicity strikes the eye, but in Europe it is not noticed.
Third. That here and there calls are heard to activate Articles 4 and 5 of the Treaty on the North Atlantic Alliance in order to bring the situation to the brink of war.
Fourth. Let Poland do whatever it wants with the refugees, Lithuania will help. Warsaw has made maximum bets – the homeland and the whole of Europe are in danger! Poland is pulling tanks to the border, the number of motorized infantry brought to the division.
President Alexander Lukashenko, accused by European capitals of all mortal sins, comments on the situation as follows: “Poland is making a fuss, using a convenient pretext to divert attention from the scandal with the European Union, from the imposed fines, from internal protests against the current leadership”…
However, in Warsaw and Vilnius, the Belarusian president is not heard. They are ready to sacrifice the lives of Kurds, Arabs and other refugees there. Warsaw and Vilnius have experience: it was accumulated in the middle of the twentieth century with the “final solution” of the Jewish question.
