In Washington, they said that the United States is holding consultations, including with Russia, on the situation in Ukraine at many levels, including at the level of the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Defense. This statement was made on Friday, April 9, by the White House press secretary Jen Psaki during a press briefing, which was broadcast on Twitter.
However, this information was not confirmed in Moscow. The corresponding denial was voiced on April 10 by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergei Ryabkov.
According to him, Russia did not conduct and does not plan contacts with the United States in Ukraine at the level of the Foreign and Defense Ministers. And he called the statement of the White House press secretary Jen Psaki “disinformation and misleading.”
“At the level of the ministers of defense and foreign affairs, there are no contacts with American representatives in Ukraine and are not expected, the contacts that took place already about 7-10 days ago were carried out at other levels and along other lines,” RIA Novosti quoted the diplomat as saying.
Ryabkov added that it remains to urge Washington to take a more responsible approach to this serious issue and ensure a more attentive attitude to the exchange of information.
Note that the Americans have nevertheless taken certain actions in relation to Donbass in recent days. But they had nothing to do with Russia.
