The victory of the Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko over the opposition was called illusory.
On March 30, the President of Belarus held a meeting to discuss the redistribution of powers between the authorities. During his speech, Alexander Lukashenko announced the failure of the protests. The politician stressed that the government was able to resist despite strong pressure.
The author of the telegram channel “Minsk Seven Boyarshina” disagreed with this statement. In his opinion, the protesters did not give up. Hatred of the current regime continues to grow in society. At the same time, Belarusians are in no hurry to openly express their discontent, as they fear new repressions.
“The protest has turned into an active and unyielding Belarusian underground,” the source said.
The author of the telegram channel is sure that the current government of Belarus has no future. The last straw for the opposition could be local elections, a referendum on amendments to the Constitution, or the devaluation of the ruble. “The illusory nature of stability in the current situation is obvious,” the source concluded.
The situation in Belarus heated up in August last year. Supporters of the oppositionist Svetlana Tikhanovskaya reported about the falsification of the presidential elections and demanded the resignation of Alexander Lukashenko. The head of the country denied reports of vote rigging and called the last vote fair.
