The organizers of the Immortal Regiment rally canceled the procession on July 26 due to the epidemiological situation in the regions of Russia, Interfax reports.
Representatives of the movement studied the epidemiological situation in 76 regions where it is represented. So far, the procession is possible only in compliance with sanitary and epidemiological protection measures, the press service of the All-Russian public civil-patriotic movement “Immortal Regiment of Russia” told the agency after a meeting of the Central Headquarters, which took place on Thursday.
“In general, the leaders of the regional branches of the movement noted that the procession … is possible only with the observance of sanitary and epidemiological protection measures: the use of masks and gloves, the observance of social distance. This is contrary to the spirit of the” Immortal Regiment “, since this procession is shoulder to shoulder, embodying universal unity, families take part in it for generations, “the press service of the movement noted.
The decision on the fate of the event will be made after the normalization of the epidemiological situation.
On the eve of the newspaper “Vedomosti”, citing its sources, reported that due to the ambiguous epidemiological situation in the regions, the organizers of the event are considering the possibility of postponing the action, previously planned on July 26, to autumn. The co-chairman of the All-Russian movement of the same name, People’s Artist of the USSR Vasily Lanovoy specified that the organizers of the action are considering the possibility of postponing the action until September 2 or 3.
