Prince Andrew to stand trial in sexual assault case

The son of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, the Duke of York Andrew, is to face trial in the United States on charges of sexual abuse of Virginia Giuffre, reports BBC News.

On Wednesday, the Southern District Court in New York City reportedly refused to dismiss a civil lawsuit filed against him. The case against the 61-year-old Duke of York could go to trial in September this year.

It was previously reported that Prince Andrew could be stripped of his right to use the title of His Highness if he loses a court case for the rape of Virginia Giuffre.

Giuffre claims that Andrew had sex with her three times against her will in 2001 when she was 17 years old. According to her, one of the crimes took place in London. The prince has consistently denied the allegations. Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the situation.
