Former Prime Minister Erik Pukhaev announced his decision to leave his post. His post was temporarily taken over by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Gennady Bekoev.
Bekoev has been working in the civil service in South Ossetia since 2004. In 2017-2018, he headed the republican committee of industry; in November 2018, he was appointed deputy prime minister - minister of economic development.
Earlier it was reported that Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a document according to which the Russian Federation from September 15 opens the border with South Ossetia, which was closed in the spring due to the spread of COVID-19.
