Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who was elected president of Vietnam on Monday, took an oath of allegiance to the homeland and people of the country, TASS reports.
The inauguration ceremony of the head of state took place after the announcement of the results of the presidential elections held by the deputies of the National Assembly.
Earlier it was reported that Nguyen Xuan Phuc was elected the new president of Vietnam. 97.08% of the deputies voted for the candidacy of the 67-year-old politician. In this post, he will replace the Secretary General of the Central Committee of the ruling Communist Party, Nguyen Phu Chong. Since 2016, Nguyen Xuan Phuc has served as Prime Minister.
It is noted that the new head of Vietnam became the 11th president of the country.
