Powerful Diuretic Tea Recipe for Swollen Feet

If you’ve ever had swelling in your legs (or arms), you know how painful it can be. It is pointless and even harmful to endure such a state – therefore, it is urgent to find out the causes and take up treatment! But for starters, basic knowledge in this area will not interfere.

Where do edema come from

Edema usually occurs due to fluid retention in the tissues. There are several reasons for this:

  • a sedentary lifestyle (you sit or stand in one position for a long time);
  • the use of a large number of processed foods and salty foods;
  • poor circulation;
  • PMS;
  • side effects of certain medications;
  • pregnancy.

Often a slight swelling can be observed during pregnancy – after prolonged sitting or standing during the day. This is considered acceptable. But chronically occurring swelling in the legs and ankles can signal much more serious ailments – kidney, heart or liver failure. In this case, it is best to consult a doctor.

However, if puffiness occurs infrequently, you can try to cope with them yourself. There is an effective remedy that helps reduce swelling and remove excess fluid. This is parsley.

Medicine recommended by Hippocrates

As you know, there are two types of parsley: curly and ordinary, or Italian. The former is more tender, and the latter is more fragrant. Parsley is often used to decorate dishes. As a rule, we take it out of the plate and put it aside. But in vain!

Research shows that parsley protects against a variety of ailments such as digestive disorders, urinary tract infections, asthma, and allergies, as well as helping lower blood pressure, improve bone health, and even relieve bronchitis.

In antiquity, Hippocrates himself recommended the use of parsley to treat kidney stones and rheumatism, as well as an antidote. It was considered an excellent diuretic that helps the kidneys remove excess fluid from the body.

Modern studies show that parsley, unlike traditional pharmaceutical diuretics, does not reduce the level of sodium and potassium in the body. It can also lower blood pressure.

Parsley tea recipe for swollen feet

American herbalist Dr. John Christopher believes that for maximum effect, you need to drink at least 1.5 liters of strong parsley tea per day. If you have such a need, you can increase the dose and drink one cup every hour. When preparing a drink, the doctor recommends using fresh pale green leaves, as well as the roots and seeds of this plant.

  1. Finely chop the parsley leaves and roots (you can do this in advance and store the resulting mass in the refrigerator in a tightly closed container for a week).
  2. Place about ¼ cup of parsley in a tea strainer.
  3. Pass a cup of boiling water through it or immerse it in a teapot.
  4. Let it brew for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Remove the strainer or strain the tea.
  6. Add honey, lemon or ginger (optional).

For the fullest effect, drink the tea warm.
