The defense of the former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko appealed against the arrest of his property, which was imposed by the Pechersky District Court of Kiev on January 6, the Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The lawyer of the ex-head of state, Igor Golovan, confirmed that an appeal had been filed. The Pechersky District Court earlier seized the property of the ex-head of Ukraine. Apartments, land plots, corporate rights and Poroshenko’s shares in investment funds and enterprises were arrested.
At the same time, the Ukrainian agency for journalistic investigations Sledstvie.info reported that Poroshenko had previously transferred the bulk of his business, including the Roshen confectionery corporation, to his son Alexei.
Recall that Poroshenko is suspected of treason and support of terrorism in the case of coal supplies from Donbass in 2014-2015. On December 17, 2021, he left the country and returned on the morning of January 17. At 12:00 Moscow time in Kiev, a court session began on the election of a preventive measure policy. Earlier, the trial for choosing a preventive measure for Poroshenko was postponed to January 19.
