Petro Poroshenko’s party reacted to the SBU’s accusations about his connection with Viktor Medvedchuk, accused of treason.
Former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko denied the authorities’ accusations of collusion with the head of the Opposition Platform – For Life party, Viktor Medvedchuk, on coal supplies from Donbass.
“In order to create a smokescreen and divert the attention of society from the crimes of the authorities revealed by the investigators and made public this week, law enforcement officers, on the direct orders of (President of Ukraine Vladimir – ed.) Zelensky, are trying to revive their old and completely unsubstantiated fake about Poroshenko’s alleged connection with Medvedchuk .. . “, – said in the statement of Poroshenko’s party” European Solidarity “.
The statement emphasizes that Poroshenko “categorically rejects the accusations from the authorities and considers them a classic example of fabricated politically motivated cases and black PR against political opponents,” RIA Novosti reports.
On October 8, the Ukrainian authorities presented Medvedchuk with suspicion of treason and assistance to terrorism. The SBU claims that Medvedchuk acted in collusion with the country’s leadership. The SBU has published recordings of Medvedchuk’s conversations, which allegedly mentions the name of Poroshenko.
The head of the SBU Ivan Bakanov also said that the investigation is checking the involvement of Poroshenko and the ex-head of the National Bank Valeria Gontareva in violations in the supply of coal.
