The situation with the coronavirus in the country is stabilizing, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said at the general meeting of the Department of Medical Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, writes TASS.
According to the head of the department, Russia now ranks 87th in the world in terms of the average daily incidence. “Today we are at the point where the situation is stabilizing,” Popova stated.
She noted that the result was achieved thanks to “advanced anti-epidemic restrictive measures in the Russian Federation.” It was these measures that led to the fact that even at the peak of the incidence rate, its indicators in Russia were lower than abroad.
In her speech, the head of Rospotrebnadzor noted that 192 cases of infection with the British strain of coronavirus and 21 with the South African strain were detected in the Russian Federation. At the same time, scientists observe the formation of mutations characteristic only for the regions of Russia – these are the Siberian and northwestern variants of the virus.
Anna Popova also said that a study of the level of population immunity to COVID-19 in the country shows an increase in the number of Russians with antibodies. So, if in December last year from 21.2 to 74.8 percent of the surveyed volunteers had immunity, then in March this year from 25 to 87.1 percent had immunity, RIA Novosti reports.
Earlier it became known that a rapid test was developed in the Russian Federation to detect antibodies to COVID after vaccination. It requires one drop of blood. The test result will be ready in 15 minutes, and the accuracy is 96%.
