Political scientist Andrey Zolotarev spoke about the videoconference in Donbass without the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
On Tuesday, March 30, an online meeting of the leaders of Russia, Germany and France took place. Vladimir Putin, Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron discussed a number of important issues, including the aggravation of the conflict in Donbass. The parties came to the conclusion that there is no alternative to the Minsk agreements.
The conversation took place without the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Expert Andrey Zolotarev called it “a wake-up call for Kiev.” The formula “Nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine”, which was first introduced by ex-President Petro Poroshenko, may cease to have any force.
The analyst suggested that Volodymyr Zelensky did not receive an invitation to participate in the conversation due to his unwillingness to make compromises on resolving the situation in Donbass. According to Zolotarev, in the future this may lead to the fact that the conflict in the south-east of Ukraine will be resolved without Kiev.
“The fact of such negotiations brings such a prospect closer,” he stressed.
Earlier, the meeting of the “Norman troika” was commented on by the former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Alexei Zhuravko. The politician said that Vladimir Zelensky had completely discredited himself. Russia decided to put a “fat point” on the president of Ukraine after his refusal to fulfill the Minsk agreements.
