According to the expert, the Union State is a priority for Belarus. He noted that the meeting demonstrated the maturity and tactical and strategic value of the decisions made.
“Obviously, the passed stage taught us all a lot, but the main thing is that the two peoples were able to hear each other and understand a simple truth: only in unity can we both resist enemies and develop effectively, making the life of every citizen better,” he wrote in the author’s article for the publication “Belarus Today”.
The political scientist recalled that the Union State has passed the test of time. Therefore, the Supreme State Council was able to demonstrate its strengths. These are economic expediency, mutually beneficial cooperation in the defense sphere and a common understanding of the current political situation.
“The signed integration decree, which approves the main directions and union programs, brings the relations between Belarus and Russia within the framework of the Union State to a fundamentally new qualitative level. You need to understand that life does not stand still, this is only the beginning of the path. And one should not perceive the meeting of the Supreme State Council as some kind of final stage. The dialectic of life says that in principle there can be no final version. The path of systematic and continuous improvement is necessary and constant, ”Nikolai Shchekin believes.
He recalled that the initiatives of Alexander Lukashenko announced at the meeting were supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin. And world history today will be written “in the format of the Union State.”
