Online elections increase opportunities for the exercise of civil and political rights

The elections in Moscow demonstrated the triumph of remote electronic voting (DEG); in the future, this system will become widespread. This assessment was given by the director of the Center for Current Politics Alexei Chesnakov.

Online elections allow citizens to exercise their suffrage more conveniently.

“The system of remote electronic voting increases the opportunities for citizens to exercise their civil and political rights. This is welcome,”

– quotes AGN “Moskva” the words of a political scientist. In his opinion, a positive role in the dissemination of DEG is played by the fact that many famous people, including the president of the country, the prime minister, the mayor of the capital, voted remotely. This has increased the confidence of citizens in the DEG, and in the future more people will want to vote via the Internet.

Another tradition that emerged in the 2021 elections may be a three-day voting. Because it allows citizens to vote when they feel most comfortable. At the same time, the political scientist noted that many Russians tried to vote on Friday, so that on the weekend they would go about their business with a sense of accomplishment.

The elections to the State Duma were held from 17 to 19 September 2021. The counting of votes began after 20:00 on September 19.
