Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau acknowledged the failure of Warsaw in opposing the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project. He is quoted by TASS.
“Despite intense discussions on this issue, we have not been able to stop this project, the construction will be completed,” admitted Rau.
The diplomat added that the European Union now needs to focus on “preventing the emergence of potential risks” for the security of the countries of the union. In addition, he called on European partners to prevent a split over issues regarding Nord Stream 2.
Back in late July, Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydach said that the construction of the gas pipeline could have been completed earlier. However, since Warsaw in every possible way prevented this, the implementation of the project was delayed. “The longer this gas pipeline is inactive, the better for Central and Eastern Europe and the unity of the European Union,” said Pshidach.
