Planned hospitalization of children suspended due to omicron in Moscow

According to the Department of Health, over the past two weeks, the number of detected cases of COVID-19 in younger age groups has increased 14 times from 2,000 per week to 28,000. The number of hospitalizations has increased 10 times, every day an average of 120 children are admitted to coronavirus hospitals in Moscow. At the same time, almost half of patients with COVID-19 received an infection in hospitals, where they were routinely treated for other pathologies.

The Moscow City Hall noted that the temporary suspension of planned hospitalization does not apply to children with oncological and hematological diseases. Emergency and emergency medical care will be provided in full to all children without exception.

“Citizens are asked to treat the forced measures with understanding. They are aimed at ensuring the safety of patients and coping with a new wave of the coronavirus pandemic, ”the agency said in a statement.

It should be noted that all regions of Russia are forced to take unprecedented quarantine measures due to the rapid spread of the omicron variant – 67,809 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the country over the past day. In the clinics of St. Petersburg, Perm and Tver in other cities, the reception of specialists has been suspended due to the mass infection of medical staff. In the Leningrad region, Yakutia and Surgut, there are not enough ambulances, which is why doctors are forced to ask for help from regional authorities and volunteers.

In Rybinsk, Sergiev Posad, Samara and Volgograd, interruptions in the operation of public transport began due to a high incidence among drivers and conductors. In Khimki, the city court was closed for an indefinite period, and in Yekaterinburg, the police department.
