Preparations for the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Beijing in early February continue, with colleagues from China paying special attention to ensuring sanitary safety. This was stated by the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov.
According to him, at the moment Russia and China are discussing additional requirements to ensure sanitary safety. Peskov expressed the hope that, despite the spread of the omicron strain of coronavirus in the world, “God forbid, everything will go according to plan.” At the same time, he said that the Russian side is ready to “act vigorously and flexibly.”
The spokesman also noted that it is not yet clear whether the visit to China will take place in a strictly limited format. Peskov stressed that the Kremlin is preparing for full-fledged negotiations.
“Well, besides this, the participation of the president in the opening ceremony [Олимпийский Игр в Пекине]. This is what preparations are being made for,” TASS quoted the Kremlin representative as saying.
Peskov also said that it is planned to invite a narrow circle of journalists from the Kremlin pool to cover Putin’s work in Beijing.
Recall that the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled for February 4, the opening day of the Olympic Games.
