The President said that Russia will not allow attacks on its sovereignty
At a meeting with the leaders of the Duma factions, Vladimir Putin said that the authorities are obliged to protect the upcoming elections to the State Duma from external interference.
“We cannot and will not allow any blows to the sovereignty of Russia, by the right of our people to be the master on their land,” he stressed.
The leader noted that in this issue all parliamentary factions demonstrate a common approach. He expressed the hope that in the future they will take a firm and confident state position. Putin stressed that such cohesion is important. Especially for representatives of the country’s leading parties.
The President made a special emphasis on the fact that the elections to the State Duma in 2021 should be held on a competitive basis.
“We are all interested in the elections being held openly, honestly, with dignity, on a highly competitive basis,” the head said.
In his opinion, this is important both for the parliamentary parties and for the forces not represented in the State Duma, which intend to take part in the upcoming elections. It is also of particular importance for voters who will determine the outcome of the campaign, Vladimir Putin summed up.
