Parliament of Kyrgyzstan prematurely removed from office the head of the Supreme Court

On March 31, the Kyrgyz parliament, on the initiative of the head of the country Sadyr Japarov, dismissed the head of the Supreme Court, Gulbar Kaliyeva, from office ahead of schedule, TASS reports.

The investigation is verifying her involvement in corruption machinations when introducing the Local Court service in the department. The investigation began at the end of 2020. It concerns several employees of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan.

According to local laws, the head of the department is elected by parliament for three years, and while he is in office he cannot be held accountable. Kalieva took office in September 2018.

We add that the head of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers Ulukbek Maripov signed a decree according to which the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes of the Republic is subject to liquidation.
