Paris believes that gas contracts with Russia are beneficial to France and Europe

France and other European countries will benefit from long-term gas supply contracts with Russia. This was stated by the French Foreign Ministry Secretary of State Clement Bon on the air of the France-3 TV channel.

He noted that it is necessary to return to such contracts, as it is in the interests of France. Bon noted that some of them were “deconstructed” due to the impact of EU rules. According to him, the peculiarity of such contracts is that they “equalize prices and eliminate their surges.”

The representative of the foreign policy department drew attention to the fact that the Russian Federation complies with the terms of contracts for gas supplies.

“There is no manipulation of prices or volumes of supplies on its part,” he stressed.

According to Bon, statements that the European Union is hindering Russia from increasing fuel supplies to Europe are incorrect. He noted that France does not depend on the launch of Nord Stream 2 and “more gas could be supplied to the pipes”, since the capacity for pumping it is sufficient.

Earlier, the official representative of “Gazprom” Sergei Kupriyanov said that the debt of Moldova to Russia for the supplied gas is 433 million dollars.
