How often and how you wash your hair with shampoo depends on your skin and hair type.
Pantene hairdressing expert Barney Martin says most people shampoo their hair too often and incorrectly, which makes their hair frizzy and sparse.
He cautions that how often you should shampoo depends on your hair and skin type.
Oily skin. If you have oily skin, your hair is likely to turn oily quickly. Therefore, the expert recommends washing them every second day with shampoo, and on the days between these procedures, just rinse them with running water and use dry shampoo – a spray consisting of small particles of natural absorbent.
Thick and curly hair. If your hair is thick, coarse, or curly, you should shampoo it every third day. If more often, they can become even more dehydrated. On other days, rinse them in running water without shampoo and use conditioner to stop them drying out.
Thin hair. Fine hair is best washed every other day. To get rid of excess oiliness in your hair, rinse it in running water between the days you use the shampoo.
After sports. After the gym, the expert does not recommend shampooing your hair every day, even if you have worked out well. In this case, he advises simply rinsing your hair under running water and then treating your hair with dry shampoo so as not to spoil it. An exception is the pool, as it is important to rinse the chlorine or salt water off your hair as soon as possible, Barney Martin recommends a clarifying shampoo.
