PACE called on Baku and Yerevan to fulfill the agreement on Karabakh as soon as possible

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe called on Azerbaijan and Armenia to implement the provisions of the trilateral agreement on Nagorno-Karabakh as soon as possible, TASS reports.

The Assembly also noted “the role of Russia in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.”

PACE also recommended that Yerevan and Baku “immediately begin the exchange of prisoners of war, respect the cultural heritage, refrain from rhetoric that interferes with political dialogue.”

In addition, the assembly expressed “serious concern about reports of violations of humanitarian and human rights law” during the conflict in Karabakh. “

Let us remind you that in September last year, the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan escalated in Nagorno-Karabakh. In November, Baku and Yerevan, with the mediation of Moscow, signed an agreement on the cessation of hostilities and on the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in the region.

On January 11, following the talks in the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a statement on the development of Nagorno-Karabakh, which suffered from hostilities.
