Opponents of Nord Stream 2 in Germany did not support US sanctions

The German party Soyuz-90 / Greens, which opposes the implementation of the SP-2 project, considers the new restrictive measures of the United States against the Russian pipeline unacceptable, Reuters reports.

“The new US sanctions are unacceptable even for opponents of the project,” said party deputy Omid Nuripur and expressed bewilderment why the United States impose sanctions on friends doing business with a third party. “

At the same time, Nuripur called the SP-2 “an erroneous decision of the FRG” and noted that the United States had nothing to do with the project.

On the eve of the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions against the Transadria company and the Marlin vessel involved in the implementation of the Nord Stream-2 project.

In addition, according to media reports, the Blue Ship, which is involved in the construction of the gas pipeline, was also included in the list. At the same time, it was reported that the restrictions did not affect him, since it belongs to a structure associated with the German government.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the decision on new restrictive measures a blatant example of unilateral and politically motivated restrictions by Western countries. The State Department said that Washington will continue to impose sanctions on SP-2.

The SP-2 project provides for the laying of two lines of a gas pipeline from the coast of the Russian Federation through the Baltic Sea to the Federal Republic of Germany. Washington, Warsaw and Kiev are actively opposed to the appearance of the gas pipeline.

Earlier, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that possible new US sanctions against Nord Stream 2 are illegal and incorrect.
