Coronavirus will return to Russia in the fall, said State Duma deputy, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Onishchenko.
By this time, according to his forecast, the country will already have a "large layer" of the population with immunity. At the same time, Onishchenko added that in summer the body's resistance is higher than in the cold season.
According to the deputy, even if the coronavirus returns, strict restrictive measures cannot be introduced again, “when everything was completely forbidden, people were not allowed to work, move,” Interfax writes.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in Russia, more than 687 thousand cases of coronavirus infection have been identified, more than 454 thousand of them have recovered, 10,296 patients have died. Experts have different points of view about when the activity of the coronavirus will decline.
So, according to the virologist Anatoly Altstein, this will happen no earlier than in a year. The scientist explained that the virus, moving from person to person, learns to adapt and does not kill its carrier, which allows it to be transmitted further. He also agreed with Onishchenko’s forecast, saying that the second wave of coronavirus will certainly exist and will cover the world in the fall, according to the NSN.
