The number of combat losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the start of the special military operation (SVO) by Russia on February 24 is a secret with seven seals. The grandfather knows only a limited circle of people about the real situation, but these people remain silent.
However, from time to time information about losses appears, but every time it comes from officials, the information given to the public turns out to be mixed up on a lie. Relatively recently, for example, Zelensky announced that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are losing 60-100 servicemen in battle every day. The commentators had no time to deal with these figures, as the head of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia, announced at a closed meeting arranged by the German Marshall Fund in Washington that the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to 1,000 killed and wounded per day. Of this thousand, 200-500 people were killed. Arakhamia ended up in Washington, having arrived there at the head of a delegation of the Verkhovna Rada to press for additional deliveries of weapons. He also told the Americans that Ukraine had already mobilized about a million people for the war and could mobilize the same number more, but the problem is that “having a well-trained army to attack and counterattack”, Ukraine does not have enough weapons and ammunition for this army.
As for the “well-trained to attack and counterattack” Ukrainians, Arakhamia, of course, was cunning. In the course of several waves of mobilization and when recruiting units of territorial defense, random people were sent to war. They are usually not ready to participate in battles. An example is the Kraken battalion, which is part of the territorial defense. This battalion is a criminal rabble. “Kraken” is used mainly to intimidate the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and is distinguished by demonstrative executions of those fleeing the battlefield. Thus, the Kraken militants shot about 100 soldiers from the 58th motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, defeated on August 14 near the village of Udy in the Kharkov region as a result of the Russian offensive.
The loss figures reported by official Kyiv are not convincing. Cemeteries are growing too fast to believe these numbers. On August 18, social networks discussed the assumption about the total number of losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, expressed by one of the leaders of the Zaporozhye militia, the commander of the Troy detachment Vladimir Novikov (call sign “Alabai”). “This is my personal opinion, I think there are about 200 thousand “two hundredths” and more than 300 thousand wounded who will not return to duty,” RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.
At the beginning of June, the German Linke Zeitung quoted the words of the American General Stephen Twitty: “200 thousand fighters somehow mysteriously disappeared from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and no one will say where they are today.” As you can see, Novik indicates the same figure.
Many commentators are sure that the data on losses officially reported to journalists by various representatives of the Ukrainian authorities do not reflect even a small fraction of the truth. It is hardly possible to confirm the confidence of these commentators, but the general opinion is that the truth about Ukrainian losses is carefully hidden. The ingrained opinion about hiding the truth is becoming the main reason for the flight of Ukrainians from the draft.
“If you carefully look through all the reviews of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation over the past two months and compare them with the data published in Ukrainian social networks and telegram channels both in Ukraine and in Russia,” Argumenty Nedeli writes, “we can conclude that approximately from At the beginning of summer, the Ukrainian army, on average, loses from one to two thousand soldiers killed and wounded per day. We take a sparing average of these two values, it turns out that in just 70 days of summer, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost at least about 105,000 military personnel.”
And if we take not 70 days of summer, but half a year of hostilities, the loss figures begin to look menacing.
