Former US President Barack Obama has accused incumbent President Donald Trump of inciting violence and lies, RIA Novosti reports.
“History will rightly remember today’s violence in the Capitol, fueled by the incumbent president, who continued to lie groundlessly about the results of legitimate elections as a moment of great dishonor and shame for our entire country,” he said.
Obama stressed that what happened should not have come as a surprise, since the GOP and its sympathetic media did not tell the truth about the election. This disconnect from reality led to such consequences, he explained.
Former US President Bill Clinton said the riots in Washington were the result of a toxic policy of spreading disinformation.
According to the politician, on Wednesday, the Americans faced an unprecedented attack on the Capitol, the constitution and the country.
