On November 4, Russia celebrates National Unity Day, a holiday dedicated to the liberation of Moscow from Polish invaders in 1612. De facto, his mission is to neutralize November 7, the “red day” of the celebrations of the October Revolution of 1917. A State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Political Sciences, talks about the background and peculiarities of the holiday Sergey Obukhov.

– Like all remakes, the holiday is not understandable: it has no real relationship either to history or to the victories of our country. The date of November 4 is timed to the Day of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God – and this is a holiday beloved by the people.

With the miraculous icon of the Kazan Mother of God, revealed in 1579, the Nizhny Novgorod zemstvo militia led by the prince Dmitry Pozharsky and the client Kuzma Minin They took Kitay-Gorod by storm and expelled the Polish invaders from Moscow. This victory served as a powerful impetus for the revival of the Russian state. And the icon became an object of special reverence and sanctified the monarchist idea. Back in 1649 by decree of the tsar Alexey Mikhailovich Day of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God (October 22, old style) was declared a church-state holiday in Russia. But what is the monarchist idea now ?!

And what is National Unity Day in the current concrete sense? The date itself has nothing to do with history, because Moscow was liberated from the Polish invaders and the “Seven Boyars” on November 7. Therefore, if you make tracing paper, then

True National Unity Day – November 7! Because Moscow, in fact, was liberated from the Polish invaders and the “Seven Boyars” on November 7! By the way, until 2005, the United Russia party and those in power on November 7 regularly walked and laid flowers at the monument to Minin and Pozharsky in Moscow, and the communists solemnly celebrated the Day of the Great October Socialist Revolution. Everything passed peacefully, amicably, solemnly. Then the demiurge of modern democracy Mr. Surkov decided to separate these two holidays.

“SP”: The current holiday is associated with the end of the Time of Troubles in Russia in 1613. Are the parallels suggesting?

– This is now a new Time of Troubles – whatever they say to us about the era of stability and healthy conservatism. In 1991, a coup d’etat took place, as a result of which Russia was thrown away from the meaningful project of modern development. And the current government, having settled down inside the golden billion, is trying to find its own niche for survival. In fact, we see a bankrupt capitalist project.

“SP”: At one time, the people were especially dissatisfied with the fact that November 7 became a working day …

– Yes, 63% of Russians expressed dissatisfaction with the cancellation of November 7 as a holiday. And sociology shows that even today a fairly significant part of society supports the idea of returning November 7 the status of a full-fledged holiday. I think that these sentiments will only grow – as social inequality increases and demands to establish power from the people grow.

“SP”: The officialdom often says that the holiday of November 4 “united the peoples.” One would like to clarify: if he rallied, then in rejection, in rejection of this holiday. Do you agree?

– The peoples were united by the Soviet power, continuing the traditions of the “Council of All Land” in 1612, which became the prototype of the Soviets that arose in 1917. The rallying was against the exploiters and those who, in their own interests, supported the foreign invaders.

Today, the Communist Party stands for the unity of peoples – at least in order to get rid of the dictatorship of the capitalists. When a person is a “friend, comrade and brother” to another, this allows the bourgeois egocentric rubbish to be left in the dustbin of history.

There can be no national unity between robbers and robbers. November 4 is the Day of fake, false unity, the most artificial holiday in the country. What kind of national unity can there be among the working class and among those who exploit them, the so-called class of effective owners ?! Despite any fables about braces, we must understand: the more the contradictions between the owners of the means of production and the exploited masses are aggravated, the more hotbeds of discontent on the part of the working people will flare up in society, at various levels.

“SP”: What would you say to those celebrating November 4th?

– The holiday bestowed by power is the very embodiment of this power. Her time will pass, and fake celebrations will end.
