Norway will put the old submarine base at the disposal of the United States

Norway intends to provide a nuclear submarine base, built by NATO's decision in the 1960s, 350 km from the Russian border, to house American submarines, NRK reports. The corresponding decision was made by the Norwegian authorities last week.

The United States plans to transfer three Seawolf-class nuclear attack submarines there.

Note that this base was closed in 2002, in 2011 it was bought for 38 million kroons by a Norwegian businessman, who leased it to Russian research vessels.

We add that the US Department of Defense planned to suspend the construction of a number of facilities abroad with a total cost of $ 545 million. We are talking about projects in Norway, Germany, Spain and a number of other European countries.
