The Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea reported that the DPRK had fired an unknown projectile, presumably a ballistic missile, towards the Sea of Japan, Renhap reported.
“The Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea reported … but did not provide details,” the agency said.
It is noted that this is the first test of the DPRK’s weapons this year.
On the morning of October 19, information appeared that the North Korean military launched a short-range ballistic missile towards the Sea of Japan.
The range of its flight, according to various estimates, was from 450 to 590 km, and the height of the trajectory was 60 km. At the same time, the Japanese authorities reported that the DPRK had launched two missiles.
The US condemned the ballistic missile launch and called on North Korea to refrain from any destabilizing action.
