North Korea confirms hypersonic missile launch

Pyongyang has successfully tested a hypersonic missile, Yonhap reports, citing the Korean Central Telegraph Agency.

It is noted that the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un, was present at the tests.

The warhead of the hypersonic missile hit the target at a distance of thousands of kilometers.

“The hypersonic gliding block separated from the missile at a line of 600 kilometers and hit an established target at sea at a distance of one thousand kilometers,” the message says.

The purpose of the tests was the final verification of the technical characteristics of the developed hypersonic weapon system.

On the eve of the launch of the rocket, the South Korean military announced. It was reported that the rocket flew over 700 kilometers, and the altitude at the highest point was 60 kilometers.

On January 6, it also became known that North Korea had tested a hypersonic missile.
