The President of Georgia stated that she would never pardon Saakashvili. He will spend at least 6 years in prison. “The Kremlin is not interested in the fate of Saakashvili,” Peskov commented.
Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili said that she would never pardon former head of state Mikhail Saakashvili. On Friday, October 1, the disgraced president returned to his homeland and was detained in Tbilisi.
In Georgia, Saakashvili is accused of abuse of office when he served as head of state. Also, the disgraced president was stripped of Georgian citizenship, as he received a passport of Ukraine.
The Georgian prosecutor’s office reported that Saakashvili faces at least 6 years in prison for his crimes. And judging by the statement of the current president of Georgia, pardon does not shine for him either.
The Kremlin is not interested in the fate of Saakashvili,
– commented the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.
