No money: the Russian government refused to build a bridge to Sakhalin

There is no money yet to build a bridge to Sakhalin. Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin announced this on a social network.

So far, we do not pull it on the money. Not a bad idea, but there is not enough money for it yet, – quotes TASS Deputy Prime Minister, who made a statement during a live broadcast on Instagram.

Earlier, the plenipotentiary of the President of Russia in the Far Eastern Federal District, Yuri Trutnev, said that the construction of a bridge to Sakhalin had been discussed since the middle of the 20th century and always raised many questions. Recently, the attitude of the head of state Vladimir Putin to this project has changed, the Deputy Prime Minister said. True, he did not specify in which direction.

Meanwhile, the head of the presidential administration, special presidential envoy for environmental protection, ecology and transport Sergei Ivanov pointed out the disadvantages of the project to build a transport passage from Sakhalin to the mainland. He noted that the bridge to Sakhalin is needed, first of all, from a psychological point of view – “Crimea was connected, Sakhalin would not hurt”, but it is problematic in terms of the costs required for construction. Ivanov also added that there will be no cargo for this bridge.

The fact that the bridge to Sakhalin will still be built was announced earlier by Oleg Belozerov, Director General of Russian Railways. The project was tentatively estimated at 576 billion rubles, of which 226 billion – a bridge crossing with approaches and 350 billion – a railway line, chernayakobra.ru wrote.
