Ballet star Nikolai Tsiskaridze told who he considers himself to be.
Ballet dancer and rector of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet Nikolai Tsiskaridze in the program “Excellent Life” said that he considers himself a Russian citizen.
“When they tried to accuse me of something in Georgia, I never hid my opinion in my life. I said a long time ago, in 2001, in the Kremlin, when Vladimir Putin presented me with my first State Prize. I said: “I am proud that I am a Georgian by nationality, that I am a Russian citizen and a Russian artist“, said Nikolai Tsiskaridze.
According to Tsiskaridze, he understands everything well for himself. “I will never be Georgian. Well, because it happened. I am proud that I am a representative of such an ancient culture, which is older than Russian. It is my choice. I wanted to live in Moscow. I wanted to dance at the Bolshoi Theater, and I did not see my fate in any other way. I was raised by the Russian ballet school. My teachers all considered themselves Russian artists, although they are of different nationalities“, – said Nikolai Tsiskaridze.
Recall that Nikolai Tsiskaridze is a People’s Artist of Russia. Since May of this year, he has been hosting the Tonight program on Channel One.
