Nikolai Tikhonov left the cosmonaut corps after injury

Nikolai Tikhonov decided to leave the cosmonaut corps of "Roscosmos" for health reasons. This is stated on the official website of the Cosmonaut Training Center (CPC).

It is noted that on Friday the employment contract with the test cosmonaut was terminated. As it became known earlier, the 38-year-old cosmonaut suffered an eye injury, having stumbled upon a branch while walking.

At the moment, there are 31 people in the cosmonaut corps, of which 23 are active cosmonauts and eight candidates for test cosmonauts.

Nikolai Tikhonov was enrolled in the cosmonaut corps in 2006, and in June 2009 he was awarded the qualification “test cosmonaut”. Meanwhile, Tikhonov was appointed four times to the composition of the main crews of the Soyuz spacecraft, but during this time he never went into space.
