149 civilians and 11 law enforcers died in Almaty during mass riots, said Kanat Taimerdenov, head of the city’s police department.
He added that during the riots in the city, more than 1.3 thousand rifled, smooth-bore and gas-traumatic weapons were stolen.
According to him, the participants in the pogroms made 27 attempts to seize the building of the police department.
“The attacks were carried out by professionally trained people who are fluent in weapons and combat methods,” TASS quoted him as saying.
Taimerdenov also said that there were seven attacks on morgues. Unidentified people stole 41 bodies of the dead.
Earlier, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Kazakhstan stated that a total of 225 people died during the riots in the republic.
Recall that special services continue anti-terrorist special operations in three regions of the republic. “Red” zones are Zhambyl and Alma-Ata regions, as well as Alma-Ata.
