NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg urged to update the strategic concept of the alliance from 2010, RIA Novosti reports.
He suggested that at the next meeting of the leaders of the bloc member states to work out this issue in more detail.
According to him, the current document does not take into account the deterioration of relations with Russia and the strengthening of China. In particular, the NATO Secretary General accused Russia of aggressive actions against its neighbors. He also considers it important to strengthen the connection between Europe and North America.
Earlier, the alliance called Russia the main military threat until 2030. In addition, Stoltenberg called for strengthening NATO’s presence in the Black Sea.
The Federation Council previously commented on NATO’s statements about the “aggressive actions” of the Russian side.
